How to apply arnica
Arnica is an excellent ally for relieving muscle pain and minor bruises, but it is important to use it correctly. Here is how you can apply arnica:
- Wash and dry the area: Before applying arnica, make sure the affected area of the body is clean and dry.
- Apply a small amount: Take a walnut-sized amount of arnica gel or cream and put it on your fingers.
-
Massage gently: Massage the affected area in circular motions until fully absorbed.
A strong and concentrated arnica gel is absorbed in about 3 minutes, such as Officinalis 90% arnica gel. -
Create a poultice: apply another 2-3 mm layer of gel and wrap it with absorbent paper or toilet paper (do not use plastic wrap).
By imitating the horse's coat that retains the product, you will ensure that the arnica is absorbed steadily and gradually over a prolonged period.
Frequency: You can apply the poultice once a day, preferably in the evening. If desired, in the morning and early afternoon, apply a walnut-sized amount of gel and massage until absorbed (without applying the poultice).
Do I have to use a poultice when applying arnica?
No, it is not necessary to use a poultice in all cases. Often, applying the arnica cream or gel and massaging until fully absorbed is enough to get relief. However, if you are looking for greater effectiveness, the poultice may be the best solution.
A good approach can be to try simple massage first; if the discomfort persists or you want a longer-lasting effect, you can use the poultice method.
Useful tips:
- Do not apply to open wounds: Arnica may irritate damaged skin.
- Avoid contact with eyes: If arnica gets into your eyes, rinse thoroughly with cold water.
- Do not wrap with plastic wrap: plastic wrap prevents the skin from breathing properly and the product from being absorbed. The high concentration of arnica in the product can cause irritation.
- Consult a doctor: If you have doubts or if the pain persists, ask an adult or your pharmacist for advice.
Remember: Arnica is a natural product, but it is always best to use it with caution and follow the instructions on the packaging.
